Description

Pedro Martinez Penalver 1993 – interesting modern Spanish version of a Stradivari baroque guitar – it sounds extremly nice!

Pedro Martinez Penalver is a guitar maker from Baza, a town in the province of Granada. In 1962 Pedro Martinez Penalver began his apprenticeship with Alfonso Checa (1914-1977), considered one of the leading guitar makers in Granada. After Checa’s death, Pedro took over his workshop. Pedro Martinez Penalver’s guitars have a duende that professional players seek and love.

This guitar is a showpiece of the guitar maker’s art with its outstanding workmanship and unique sound. As is typical of his instruments, this guitar is made of master grade woods. The top is made of the best German spruce, the back and sides are made of high quality cypress. The scale lengths is 660 mm and the nut width 52 mm.

This unique guitar is an interesting modern version of a 5-course baroque guitar as built by Stradivari, Voboam and others. It has a breathtaking sound – transparent and light. Very clear and absolutely charming. The guitar also has a good sustain and impresses with fine and sweet tones.

It is an absolute pleasure to play this fine guitar and to let it take you away to far away places and past times.

It is in good condition, with some amount of wear from play and use.
