Description
A great flamenco guitar from Pedro Maldonado Sr. – it truly has the good traditional flamenco sound!
Pedro Maldonado was born in Loja (Granada) in 1929 in Las Parras Street.
His father was a furniture maker and Pedro began helping his father in the carpentry shop when he was a teenager.
Very soon Pedro Maldonado had interest in guitar building. His father took him to Granada in order to develop this art with the help of some guitar makers from the famous “Escuela Granadina”. He learned and worked with Manuel de la Chica, Eduardo Ferrer and Antonio Robles.
It was in 1959 when Pedro Maldonado opened his own workshop.
Since Pedro Maldonado was always a good worker, he started to make excellent instruments right away. It was then that he started receiving orders from “Casa Damas” in Sevilla, a flamenco store with a great reputation. Very fast his reputation grew and he had to work 14 hours daily in order to make all the orders he had from famous musicians, Spanish guitarists and stores from different parts of the world: United States , Japan , Germany , Great Britain , Australia.
This guitar has been built Pedro Maldonad Senior in 1975. It has a spruce top and cypress back and sides.
It is incredibly responsive, with strong projection, and wholly rounded sound. It plays with great ease and sings. This great guitar has also a good bite and growl, with beautiful punsh in the bass and mid ranges. We fell in love with her instantly.
The scale lengths is 670 mm and the nut width 54 mm. Don’t let the long scale length scare you – the guitar plays very well and exactly this long scale length provides incredible dynamics and an enormous sound volume.
It is in a very good condition for the age. Two repaired well repaired cracks and some minor amount of play wear. It is perfectly adjusted, wit a low action and a straight neck.
The original guitar case is included.
