Description
Miguel Malo Martinez was born in 1943. He started an apprenticeship with Jose Ramirez in 1959 making classical and flamenco guitars (his instruments are stamped inside with “M.M.” or “#1 M”).
He was one of the leading craftsman in the Ramirez shop and stayed there for around 40 years.
After working for Ramirez this long time, he established his own workshop in 1993 in Madrid.
This wonderful classical guitar is from 2005 – signed and stamped with M.M. (he kept this Ramirez tradition for his instruments).
The sound of this guitar is as bold and solid as its appearance. It has a rich color palette and wide dynamic range. Each note is very dense, with the overtones tightly packed into the firm and well-defined fundamental. There is almost a cathedral-like reverb effect of the sound that emanates from the box, giving the instrument a huge presence – both behind it from the playing position as well as at a distance from a listener’s perspective. This is truly a powerful and versatile performing instrument with a rich, robust and very classy sound.
It has a fine spruce top and wonderful rosewood back and sides. The scale length is 662 mm and the nut width 52 mm.
The guitar is like new (almost unplayed) and comes with the original hardcase.
For such an instrument from Miguel Malo under the Ramirez label you would have to pay 6000 – 7000 €
