The C F Martin D-28 serves as the basic body design template for other dreadnought guitars. It has a spruce top with rosewood for the back, sides and headstock. Mahogany for the neck and ebony for fingerboard and bridge.
This splendid example is a Post-War guitar with the corresponding construction details. Pre-war guitars have Herringbone binding around the top and post war guitars a Purfling binding instead.
It is an absolute pleasure to play such a guitar. The tone is powerful and full of the typical warmth of rosewood, while the spruce top provides shine and clarity even when played hard. The guitar has an incredibly good resonance and great dynamics. It fills the room with loud and yet beautiful tones like no other guitar. The sound has an inimitable and pleasant woody character.

The body is in original condition. The original finish shows obvious signs of playing and has also been polished to a wonderful satin finish. Several cracks on the sides have been repaired very stable.
