Description

This Martin D-28 1954 is a fun guitar – a dream for players, offering a sound like no other.

Since its debut in 1931, the C.F. Martin D-28 has been a staple in the world of acoustic guitars, renowned for its reliability and exceptional tone. Loved by countless guitarists for both live performances and studio recordings, it stands as one of Martin’s most iconic designs.

The D-28 follows the traditional dreadnought body shape and features premium materials: a spruce top paired with rosewood back, sides, and headplate, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. While earlier pre-war models were adorned with herringbone purfling, this post-war version reflects the subtle design changes of its time.

Playing this 1954 D-28 is an absolute joy. Its tone is rich and resonant, combining the warm depth of rosewood with the bright, clear articulation of its fine spruce top. Whether played softly or strummed vigorously, it delivers a remarkable sound full of character and balance. Professional musicians who have played this instrument confirm that it is truly extraordinary.

This guitar has quite some stories to tell … the good thing: it is in excellent playing condition. A recent neck reset ensures low, comfortable action and a straight neck, making it a breeze to play. The back and sides of the guitar were previously covered with leather! Just as Elvis fans love it. And indeed, the guitar originally comes from a bar that was styled entirely in the Elvis look. The guitar was used there as a house guitar. Now back, sides and the back of the neck have been refinished. All cracks have been repaired. The tuners are vintage style replacements and the bridge is a newer one.
The wear it shows is exactly what you’d hope for a cool looking vintage instrument—a natural patina that adds to its charm and authenticity.

This Martin D-28 1954 comes with a newer case, completing the package. It’s a fantastic opportunity to own a piece of guitar history—an instrument with character, that plays and sounds as stunning as it looks.
