Description
Martin D-28 1941 “Pre-War” – dream guitar and lovely piece of history – very balanced and with a warm and clear vintage voice!
It has all the desired pre-war features: scalloped bracing, heringbone binding, snow flake fretboard inlays … the “holy grail” acoustic guitars, to say the least!
We are proud that we’ve landed this beautiful Martin D-28 that comes to us from all the way back in 1941. Rosewood of a quality to make a builder cry today, Adirondack Spruce top that’s yellowed to perfection, and honest play wear to prove this D-28 hasn’t been wasting away the decades under the bed. Lightweight and agile, the neck is smooth to the touch like an old, Mahogany banister, and it plays as easily.
What can we say about the sound? … this really is the holy grail. We’ve never heard anything quite like it. Big, open, very proud … just incredibly good sounding. These guitars are also legendary for their dynamic, projection and sustain. This guitar is a prime example of that.
It is in great condition for the age. In the 60’s this guitar has been refinished. It has also received a new bridge – bridge plate is original. Some parts of the binding have been reglued. The guitar has received a neck reset and a refret.
Our luthier has made the final setup – the guitar plays like butter!
It comes with the original guitar case.
This is the real vintage deal for a D-28 that’s seen miles of action, and is ready for a whole lot more.
