Martin D-21 1969 – cool dreadnought guitar from the good old time – a real joy to play
This stunning Martin D-21 from 1969 offers a fantastic chance to own a vintage Martin at a more accessible price point than the Martin D-28. The 21 series Martins were intended as the line between the 18 and the 28 series, but they were produced in much more limited numbers than either the D18 or the D28. They have rosewood back and sides like the 28 series and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge and the simpler binding of the 18 series.Â
This wonderful guitar plays like silk with a nice low action (2.2 mm E and 1.7 mm e at the 12th fret), and the voice is that huge Martin rosewood sound you are looking for in a good bluegrass guitar. The tone is rich and full with the typical Rosewood warmth, while the fine Spruce top provides sparkle and clarity even when played hard.
Everything on this guitar is original throughout. It had a small crack around the pickguard repaired and it comes with a newer case. The original paperwork is included.
With this great Martin D-21 1969 you get all the sound of a vintage Martin rosewood dreadnought and the collectability. You also have an instrument that’s just a little bit different than all the others for much less than a D-28.
