Description
Martin 00-21 NY – rare and fantastic sounding guitar. It plays nice and easy with a great vintage sound.
The Martin NY-series is as close as the 1960’s Martin company got to making guitars from their good old time. It was Martin’s first attemp to make reissue guitars of their own famous guitars from the history.
The “folk boom” of the late ’50’s made the old-style 12-fret Martins fashionable among discerning traditional players and several so-called “New York’ models were officially added to the line in 1962.
These were named to honor both the Martin company’s original roots in that city and the strength and influence of the contemporary Greenwich Village folk scene. With lighter bracing, no pickguard and an older style 12-fret neck with wide fingerboard, no markers and a slotted headstock these were nearly identical in look and feel to their famous ancestors.
Made for only 5 years, between 1961 and 1965, the C F Martin Company built a total of 906 of these 00-21NY models, with only 126 made in 1964.
This guitar has been well perserved and contains some of the most beautiful Rosewood we have ever seen.
Whether you are a collector and/or a player, this is without a doubt one of the finest 12 frets every made.
This is a surprisingly loud and unexpectedly responsive guitar. The tone is warm and sweet. It has a great dynamic and is a lot of fun to play. Satisfaction is guaranteed with this nice guitar!
It is in a good condition for its age – no cracks, repairs or whatsoever. A pickguard has been added and then removed again you can still see some light traces of that, but it doesn’t disturb at all.
The guitar plays nice and easy with a straight neck and a low action.
It comes with a hard case which seems to be the original one.
