Description
Rare opportunity, a Manuel Reyes flamenco guitar built by the great master in 1960. It has a furious sound that will definitelly amaze you!
Manuel Reyes (1934-2014) is doubtlessly the most famous flamenco guitar maker in Spain at the time of his death. Manuel’s stature was such that Luis F. Leal Pinar devoted an entire chapter in “Guitarreros de Andalucia” (2004) to him.
Manuel made only about 20 guitars a year. His flamenco guitars were in such demand, and his waiting list was so long, that he stopped taking new orders more than 20 years ago.
Since his death, the demand for his guitar has only increased. It is a rare opportunity to get one of his guitars.
This Manuel Reyes has the best flamenco sound you can imagine. It produces sharp snappy percussive rasqueado, can play sweetly too, and has a throaty growl when desired.
Definitelly a sound to fall in love with. A sound which can be found on the recordings of the great old master guitarrists.
The flamenco guitar is perfectly adjusted, with a low action (2.8 E6 and 2.3 E1) and a straight neck.
The nut width is 52 mm and the scale length is 655 mm. The height of the strings at the bridge is 7 mm. The top is of fine alpine spruce and the back and sides are of cypress. It has a frensh polish finish.
Some cracks have been perfectly repaired and the frensh polish has been refreshed by Manuel Reyes Hijo. The guitar looks like new now.
The guitar comes with a fitting hard case.
