In 2019, we discovered Juan Fernandez Utrera’s store and guitars by chance on a trip to Spain.
We were immediately impressed, because such wonderful sounding guitars can only be found in the €5000+++ price range.
That’s why we decided to include Utrera guitars in our range. We are delighted to be able to present these very good sounding guitars.
Juan Fernandez Utrera is a relatively young guitar maker from Granada. His construction is based on the guitar makers of Granada and his guitars can compete with the best Spanish guitars.
This fine flamenco guitar is very lightly built and impresses with its great choice of wood. It has a fine spruce top and beautiful rosewood back and sides.
The scale length is 664 mm and the nut width is 52 mm. It has Wittner fine tuning pegs, which have the traditional look but can still be handled like modern tuners. The guitar plays extremely well across the entire neck and has a set-up especially for flamenco playing – low and fast.
The sound is furious – the guitar reacts absolutely fast and has a sharp flamenco tone that is immediately exciting and captivating.
It has beautiful basses and is still a very balanced instrument. The sound is a perfect blend of beauty and real flamenco aggression. When played softly, it sings with a sweet, warm and full tone, but when strummed harder – even just a little – it awakens with a powerful flamenco growl that only the best flamenco guitars can produce.
