Description
Miguel Dominguez amazing reproduction of a Johann Georg Stauffer guitar from 1829!
Miguel Dominguez is a Spanish luthier who specialized in reproducing historical guitars.
When we came across his guitars we were amazed about the fine craftsmanship and the stunning sound of his instruments.
All of his guitars are entirely handcrafted and finely worked out.
He uses traditional methods, very good woods and natural materials.
This particular guitar is a reproduction of a Johann Georg Stauffer “Legnani model” of 1829. It has a nice spruce top and maple back and sides.
The nut width is 45 mm and the scale length 643 mm.
It sounds fantastic – lovely and sweet. The tones are rich in overtones and yet it retains an almost unbelievable degree of separation and clarity between the individual notes.
Because of its lightweight construction, the response is direct, with a huge amount of tonal modulation and dynamic range. This guitar has power and amazes with good volume.
A very charming instrument for getting closer to the authentic sound of the music of such composers as Sor, Giuliani, Aguado, Legnani, Diabelli, Carulli, Coste and Mertz … just to name a few!
