Ignacio Fleta 1970 – An Iconic Classical Guitar from One of the Most Revered Luthiers in History
Ignacio Fleta is widely regarded as one of the greatest luthiers of the 20th century, whose guitars have been favored by legendary players such as Andrés Segovia, John Williams, and Julian Bream. Born in Huesca, Spain, Fleta originally trained as a violin maker but later transitioned to building classical guitars, creating masterpieces renowned for their rich tone, sustain, and projection. His instruments are celebrated for their craftsmanship and have become prized among professional musicians and collectors alike.

This 1970 Ignacio Fleta guitar exemplifies the unparalleled quality of his work. It was was built during what many players and aficionados consider Fleta’s great cedar period.

The sound is absolutely magical, powerful and rich with a deep body resonance that is almost cello-like. It has unusually good separation of voices even when playing chordal passages. Balance is perfect, and it has a haunting, mysterious and dark sound, with substantial power. One of its most remarkable characteristics is its superb sustain in virtually every register.
The guitar impresses with a powerful, deep bass and crystal-clear, singing trebles that carry incredible sustain.

The playability of this guitar is superb, with a comfortable string action at the 12th fret (3.8 mm for the low E string and 3.0 mm for the high e string), a nut width of 53 mm, and a scale length of 650 mm. Constructed with a cedar top and Indian rosewood back and sides, this guitar is as visually stunning as it is sonically impressive. The craftsmanship reflects Fleta’s meticulous attention to detail, from the intricate rosette to the perfectly executed finish.

The guitar is in excellent condition for the age, with some visible playwear and 2 professionally repaired cracks on the back, all of which have been very expertly restored to preserve its structural integrity and tonal quality. The finish of the top has been repolished and it has received new frets. It  comes with the original guitar case, which provides both historical value and secure storage for the instrument.

This Ignacio Fleta 1970 is a rare and exquisite find, offering an extraordinary playing experience and a timeless sound that will inspire generations to come.
