Description
Gibson Southern Jumbo (SJ) 1970’s – this guitar has a great sunburst finish and sounds like a cannon!
The Southern Jumbo (SJ) is one of Gibsons nicest models. Built in the style of a J-45 it has some nicer inlays and decoration features. This guitar dates to the early 70’s (1973-1975 according to the serial number.
The Gibson SJ has a spruce top with mahogany for back, sides and neck. The nut width is 43 mm.
The finish of this model is in sunburst and it has the inlays and decorations typical for this model.
This Gibson SJ sounds absolutely great – There really is nothing quite like that vintage Gibson tone and this is a prime representation of what all the commotion is about. The spruce top produces strong, woody basses and crisp, cutting trebles combine with bold, bawdy mids for that quintessential Gibson sound.
The woods vibrate incredibly good and give this beautiful guitar a very charming woody sound.
It is in good condition. A pickguard crack has been repaired. Otherwise this guitar is in great vintage condition. It has received a neck reset and the action is pleasantly low. It plays incredibly well and it is a lot of fun to play this guitar!
It comes with the cool original Gibson case.
