Description
This Gibson LG-2 1946 is as sweet sounding as they come! An intimate, harmonically rich acoustic guitar, with a ton of vibe and a great “opened-up” tone as well as excellent playability.
A very rare piece from the early post war periode with mahogani back and sides.
It has a nice solid spruce tope, with a nicely aged warm sunburst finish, a mahogany neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard, a rosewood bridge. It has the original Kluson tuners too (replaced buttons).
This guitar is in very good shape for it’s age – it does have normal finish checking and some finish wear from play and use. Several old cracks have been repaired and are stable. We have checked the repairs. The sides show some refinishing work, while the rest of the finish is original. The bridge has been replaced and the guitar had a neck reset. The action is at 2.3 mm E and 1.8 mm e at the 12th fret. The saddle of the bridge has some good amount of room left. It has great neck (thicker, just like the war time necks) with 44,5 mm nut width.
The guitar boasts excellent play-ability with good angles. Notes just jump off the fingerboard of this one – is a great example of an early Gibson!
The FON is not legible.
This Gibson LG-2 1946 comes with the original case.
