Gerundino Fernandez 1992 flamenca negra – one of the most beautiful sounding rosewood flamenco guitars we ever had! Gerundino is one of the greatest builder in the second half of the 20th century – this guitar is truly of the best!
Gerundino Fernandez was born in AlmerÃa in 1931 – the birth place of Antonio de Torres. He is the perfect example of a self-taught luthier. Together with his brother Eladio, who provided him with the best woods, he was one of the most renowned craftsmen in the world. There are many artists who use or have used his guitars, such as Vicente Amigo, Tomatito, JoaquÃn Amador, Raimundo Amador or Paco Peña.
He won the first prize and the prize for the best acoustic guitar in the International Unesco Competition of Guitar builders in Paris, 1988. Gerundino passed away in 2006.
The selection of woods used for this instrument is: cedar of exceptional sound quality and with top quality grain for the soundboard. Stunning Madagascar rosewood for the body (sides and back). The features of this guitar are beautiful, almost impossible to find nowadays… The woods were provided by his brother Eladio, who owned woods of unbeatable quality.
This Gerundino Fernandez Flamenca has a scale length of 658 mm and a nut width of 52 mm.

It offers exquisite depth and power on the bass strings, together with crystalline and clean trebles, as well as enviable balance and projection. It has a fast response and a big, woody, traditional flamenco sound. More precisely, the tone is clear and focused with a ver charming dark texture. A sound that is typical and exclusive to Gerundino, absolutely extraordinary.
It is well adjusted and plays with great ease. The guitar has 2 small repairs on the back and the frensh polish has been professionally refreshed.
