Description

Francisco de Paula ~1870 – great sounding historical classical guitar!

This guitar was made by Francisco de Paula around 1870. There was a guitar maker called Francisco de Paula Castro from Cadiz. He also had 3 sons who also made guitars.
We assume that this guitar is related to these guitar makers, although the label states Buenos Aires as the address.
It was not uncommon at this time for guitar makers to emigrate to Argentina or for Spanish guitars with an Argentinian address to be offered for sale in Argentina.

With a finely crafted spruce top and some sort of rosewood back and sides, it represents a great masterpiece of the time.
The scale length is 642 mm and the nut width is 48 mm.

With its, for the time, large body and finely crafted top construction, this guitar is a true revelation in terms of sound.
The sound is robust and lively, with plenty of charm and personality. Additionally, the guitar unleashes great depth in every note across the entire register with great bass and lyrical highs.
The guitar is also very lively and has a “friendly” tone with great charm and personality.

The guitar is in restored and well playable condition!
