Description

Etienne Perrin ~1810 – very interesting early romantic guitar from France.

Etienne Perrin was born in Mirecourt in 1785. He learned instrument making very early and already had his own workshop around 1805, where he also later trained and worked with his son. His instruments are of good craftsmanship. He made violins, guitars and other stringed instruments and, like other instrument makers in Mirecourt, used the suffix “A Paris”.

This guitar from around ~1810 is a fine example of Perrin’s craftsmanship.
The guitar has a fine spruce top and maple back and sides. The woods are of first class quality.
The scale length of the guitar is 632 mm and the nut width is 46 mm.

The sound of the guitar is an absolute pleasure … there are guitars like this, with which you immediately feel an inner connection and which you quickly take to your heart. This is exactly the case with this guitar.
The sound is very touching and this guitar evokes deep emotions. The basses are round and precise, with a very special and enchanting quality. The singing and crystalline highs offer a fantastic range of timbres.
The sound of the guitar is fine and delicate, yet one is amazed at how loud it can get and the volume it unfolds. Definitely a romantic guitar on a very high level.

The guitar was restored very professionally by Paul Janssen not too long ago. It is in very good and excellent playable condition, with a low action and a straight neck.
