A truly historically valuable guitar from the great Benito Ferrer with an incredible sound!
Benito Ferrer (1845-1925) is considered the father and founder of the famous Granada school of guitar making, which is now represented by Manuel de la Chica, Antonio Marin Montero and many others.
Built in the classic Torres style, Ferrer’s guitars have appeared on the market, according to Luthier Richard Bruné, partly with authentic Torres labels. This is a clear proof of the sound quality of Ferrer’s instruments, made in a very traditional way.
A Ferrer guitar was given to the young Andres Segovia who played it for many years. It was also a 1906 Ferrer guitar used by Manuel De Falla while composing his beautiful Homenaje.
This guitar is an amazingly well preserved instrument for its age. It still has the original shellac and has otherwise been left pretty original. Some cracks have been repaired in a stable and professional way.
You can already imagine the unbelievable sound of this guitar just by looking at it.
The woods are of course wonderfully mature after more than 100 years and produce an incredibly beautiful vintage sound. The guitar reacts immediately and has an unbelievable vibration behaviour that makes the sound hum pleasantly. It produces the most beautiful timbres and is something special through and through.
The guitar is completely comparable with the best you know from Torres.
This 1915 Ferrer has a scale of 648 mm and a nut width of 50 mm. It has a spruce top and cypress back and sides.
It is perfectly adjusted and plays very easily with a straight neck and a low action.
