Beautiful Stauffer style guitar made by Anton Kiendl from Vienna, in 1843!
Anton Kiendl was born 3.6.1816 Mittenwald. There he started to learn from the local masters. He then moved to Munich and worked with Andreas Engleder (* c. 1810, †after 1860) and then in 1843 he finally came to Vienna.
He is widely recognized as one of the finest makers of stringed instruments of his time and because he had the oppertunity to work in different places and see the work of other great masters, he could improve his own craftmanship to a high level.
Around 1866 he had to give up his workshop due to illness and died on 13.1.1871 in Vienna.
He has made this guitar relatively early after his arrival in Vienna, because he brand stamped it on the back and on the fretboard as it was common where he worked before. Later he used paper labels as it was the tradition among the luthiers in Vienna.
The guitar has been very professionally restored, trying to leave it in an original condition.
The materials are excellent. One-piece solid flamed maple on the back and sides, fine spruce on the top. Ebony fingerboard.
Striking are the inlays on the sides and the headstock, which is surely inspired by Stauffer’s guitars, but stil in an own and beautiful style.

The guitar sounds fantastic and can easily compete with the best instruments from Stauffer. It has this magical tone which imidiately takes you into another time and far away places.
A dream guitar which produces the most beautiful timbres. It has also the volume and power you desire on such a guitar.
