Description
Hermanos Conde 2002 Atocha 53 Media Luna – Spectacular-sounding flamenco guitar – the ultimate flamenco tone for professional players!
The story of the legendary Hermanos Conde begins with the great luthier Domingo Esteso, one of the most important and renowned guitar makers of the early 20th century. In 1917, he founded his own workshop at Calle Gravina 7 in Madrid, where he worked alongside his nephew Faustino Conde from 1926 onward. Later, Mariano and Julio Conde joined the workshop, forming a family legacy that would shape the history of flamenco guitar making.
After Domingo Esteso López passed away in 1937, his nephews Faustino, Mariano, and Julio continued his work, initially under the name “Vda y Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso” and later as “Hermanos Conde Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso.” Their dedication to craftsmanship and the increasing demand for their guitars led to the opening of an additional shop at Calle Atocha 53, overseen by Julio Conde. This shop remains active today, carrying forward the tradition, even though the original workshop on Calle Gravina 7 has since closed.
This Hermanos Conde guitar, built in 2002, is a stunning example of the excellence and tradition that defines Conde flamenco guitars. The finest spruce top is paired with premium Spanish cypress for the back and sides, ensuring an instrument that is both visually and tonally outstanding. The neck is perfectly straight, and the guitar is exceptionally easy to play, with an ultra-low action of 2.7 mm on the low E string and 2.2 mm on the high E string. The nut width measures 52 mm, and the scale length is 664 mm, providing ideal proportions for flamenco performance.
The sound is nothing short of breathtaking—powerful, full-bodied, and deeply resonant. It has the raw energy and projection required for flamenco, yet remains remarkably balanced and clear, allowing every note to shine with precision. The use of cypress wood, a hallmark of the traditional flamenca blanca, enhances its crisp attack and fast response. This guitar embodies everything a professional flamenco player desires, offering both intensity and refined elegance.
It carries the unmistakable power and character of the great Madrid guitars from the 1960s and 1970s, capturing the essence of that golden era. The dynamic range is exceptional, allowing for expressive nuances while still delivering the driving force needed for flamenco’s rhythmic percussive techniques.
This guitar is in excellent condition, showing only minor signs of playwear, adding to its charm without affecting its structure or sound quality. It has been well cared for, preserving its integrity and ensuring that it remains an outstanding instrument for years to come.
A high-quality hard shell case is included, offering reliable protection for this magnificent Hermanos Conde guitar. An extraordinary instrument, built in the tradition of Spain’s finest luthiers, ready to inspire and perform at the highest level.
