A rare opportunity – Manuel Reyes flamenco guitar built in 1997. It has a furious sound that will definitelly amaze you!
As it was built in cooperation with his son, the guitar has a small “Hijo” marked on the label.
Manuel Reyes (1934-2014) is doubtlessly the most famous flamenco guitar maker in Spain at the time of his death. Manuel’s stature was such that Luis F. Leal Pinar devoted an entire chapter in “Guitarreros de Andalucia” (2004) to him.
Manuel made only about 20 guitars a year. His flamenco guitars were in such demand, and his waiting list was so long, that he stopped taking new orders more than 20 years ago.
Since his death, the demand for his guitar has only increased. It is a rare opportunity to get one of his guitars.
As with many Spanish guitar makers, Manuel Reyes’ son worked in his father’s store and was taught by him. In the case of this guitar, this was documented by the fact that “Hijo” which means son, was noted on the label.
This Manuel Reyes has the best flamenco sound you can imagine. It produces sharp snappy percussive rasqueado, can play sweetly too, and has a throaty growl when desired.
Definitelly a sound to fall in love with. A sound which can be found on the recordings of the great old master guitarrists.
The flamenco guitar is perfectly adjusted, with a low action and a straight neck.
The nut width is 52 mm and the scale length is 655 mm. The top is of fine alpine spruce and the back and sides are of cypress. It has the original frensh polish finish.
The guitar is in great condition without any repairs. The tuners have been upgraded too highend Gilbert tuners!
The guitar comes with a hard case.
