Joseph Lété 1833 – early romantic guitar in the style of Lacote – a beautifully crafted and very good sounding guitar.

Joseph Lété was born in Mirecourt in 1804 and apprenticed there before moving to Paris to work for Charles François Gand. Jean Babtiste Vuillaume is known to have worked for Lété from 1821 to 1827.
Lété then moved to Nantes and opened his own store there around 1827. Later, around 1846, he almost completely abandoned guitar and violin making in favor of pianos. Lété is the founder of the Didion company in Nantes.

This guitar was built from very good materials and with highly professional craftsmanship. It has a fine spruce top and beautiful cherry wood back and sides. The nut width is 51 mm and the scale length is 632 mm.
The guitar has a beautifully crafted scalloped fretboard.

The guitar sounds fantastic and can compete with the best instruments from Lacote. The larger and deeper body gives this guitar a very fat and loud sound.
Still, the sound is charming and sweet and this guitar is perfect to get closer to the authentic sound of the music of composers like Sor, Giuliani, Aguado, Legnani, Diabelli, Carulli, Coste and Legnani, just to name a few!
This is a dream guitar that brings out the most beautiful timbres. It is truly a masterfully built instrument and was certainly used for concerts by a professional musician at the time.

The condition is very good for its age. It has been professionally restored and made perfectly playable.

The guitar is easy to play, has a straight neck and a pleasantly low action.

The guitar comes with the original wooden case.
