Antonio Lopez Martin 1939 – historical classical guitar with excellent sound.
Antonio Lopez Martin was a Spanish guitar maker who lived and worked in Melilla. He built classical and flamenco guitars. He learnt the art of guitar making in Madrid before moving to Melilla.
His guitars are well built and he used good woods.
This fine guitar was built 100% in the style of the best Madrid guitars of the time. The top is made of solid spruce, while the back and sides are made of visually impressive rosewood. The guitar has a large body and, with a scale length of 652 mm, meets today’s standards. The nut width is 48 mm.
This guitar has a powerful and responsive sound, with brilliant highs and deep, round basses. The tones are rich in overtones, the timbre is deep and of great beauty.
This guitar, which can compete in sound with the very great classical guitars of the time, also has a very elegant, lyrical sound quality with a very rich and dense tone in all registers. At the same time, the sound is clear and balanced across the entire fingerboard. A very endearing instrument.
The guitar is in restored condition and some cracks have been repaired to get it in playing condition. It is now easy to play and the action is pleasantly low.
