Description

Jose Alberto Pantoja Martin 1968 – a real cannon of a great vintage flamenco guitar!

Jose Alberto Pantoja Martin (1931-2013) was born in Marón de la Frontera – arguably the heartland of traditional flamenco. He learned the art of building guitars in the workshop of Manuel Ortega Sousa, but considers himself as largely self-taught. He began building guitars in 1962, and opened his own workshop in 1967 in Sevilla building guitars until he died in 2013. His flamenco guitars are vibrant and have been bought by such great guitarists as Paco de Lucia, Sabicas and others.

This guitar has amazing old world flamenco sound. It has a very voluminous sound and offers besides the loud tone an enormous warmth. The basses are absolutely fantastic and they have this unbeatable vintage character. The trebles are clear and distinguished. The guitar unfolds the most beautiful timbres in every single tone and inspires in all areas. Really a very nice instrument … you’ll definitely love it.

It plays very easy, with a low action, a straight neck and a good setup.
The top is made of spruce and back and sides of cypress. The scale length is 660 mm and the nut width 52 mm.

If the guitar could speak, it would certainly be able to tell about many evenings in the different tablaos and from the stages in different places in Spain.
It was in bad condition and has quite some repairs, which have been done over the years. We have checked everything and the guitar is ready to go.

This Jose Alberto Pantoja Martin 1968 comes with the original and beaten up guitar case.
