Description
Sebastian Stenzel 1991 – excellent classical guitar in the style of Torres and elements of a Hauser – a sound to fall in love with!
Sebastian Stenzel has been building guitars since the 1980s. At first he worked for Gert Esmyol in Munich and learned from him. Over the years, Sebastian Stenzel concentrated on developing his own guitar model. In 1996, he finally opened his own workshop in Munich. Shortly afterwards, in 1998, he was awarded the Bavarian State Government Prize. Since 2002, he has been teaching ‘Theory of Guitar Making’ at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He opened his workshop in Emmendingen in 2011. In keeping with Sebastian Stenzel’s ideal sound, he builds guitars that have “sonorous, airy basses, warm, creamy mids and a lyrical, singing treble. The tone should offer the musician all the possibilities of sound shaping and dynamics without imposing itself.” (Quote: S. Stenzel)
Sebastian Stenzel’s guitars are outstanding works of art. They have all the essential elements to be considered “the best guitar you have ever played”. His guitars are built with the highest precision craftsmanship and artistic sound quality, making them unique instruments to play and to look at.
This wonderful guitar was built by Sebastian Stenzel in 1991, while he was still working for Gert Esmyol. The construction is traditional Spanish and is based on the guitars of Torres. On the other hand, it has elements of a Hauser guitar and definitely Stenzel’s own character. The top is made of fine spruce, the back and sides of rosewood. The scale length of the guitar is 650 mm and the nut width 52 mm.
From the first look and the first note, we were thrilled with this great guitar. We believe that this guitar is exceptional in every respect.
The volume of this guitar can compete with other modern instruments without losing its natural sound. Its excellent balance makes it remarkably easy to play and perfectly implements the guitarist’s musical ideas.
It is powerful yet lyrical with singing trebles, a deep bass rich in overtones, crisp yet warm. It has a timbre that responds to the slightest change in finger angle. It impresses with a huge dynamic range and an enormous wealth of timbres.
The guitar is in good condition for its age and shows some signs of use and wear. It has a transparent pickguard on the top and on the sides. A small crack on the top has been repaired very professionally and almost invisibly.
The guitar has a built-in pickup and comes with the original high-quality case.
