Description
Beautiful contra guitar (Schrammel guitar) in the style of a Viennese Stauffer guitar – built by Hans Leistner around 1930.
Hans Leistner was an instrument maker from Nuremberg. He was active in the first half of the 20th century. He made high-quality instruments, especially guitars and violins. His name stands for high-quality handmade instruments.
As he probably died very young, there are very few Leistner instruments left today.
The contra-guitar (Schrammel guitar) was invented in Vienna in the middle of the 19th century and quickly became very popular.
Famous guitar makers such as Johan Georg Stauffer, Johann Gottfried Scherzer and Franz Angerer built such instruments.
The contraguitar is therefore ideal for accompanying folk music and Schrammel music. Nowadays it is also used in modern music and jazz.
This beautiful guitar was built in the style of one of the famous Viennese guitars, with the typical Stauffer headstock and adjustable neck. It has 15 strings. The back and sides are made of maple and the top is made of spruce. The nut width is 48 mm and the scale length is 625 mm.
The sound is very beautiful, masterful with concert quality. It has a sound with a lot of clarity, but at the same time incredible tonal flexibility and offers the magic that only an old, masterfully built guitar can produce.
The guitar has a good response and can be surprisingly loud. At the same time, it retains a wide range of beautiful timbres in all registers.
The condition is very good for its age. Light restorations have been carried out to bring the guitar into a good playable and all-round stable condition.
