Maurice Ottiger 2016 – fine handmade classical guitar from Switzerland!

Maurice Ottiger was born in 1951 in Vevey (Switzerland). From an early age he was interested in guitar building. In 1974 he started to learn with the lute maker Jacob van de Geest. After 7 Maurice Ottiger opened his own workshop in 1982 in Châtel-St-Denis. In 1993 Maurice Ottiger moved to Les Paccots, where he is still located today.
The quality of his work allowed him to rapidly acquire a great reputation in the construction of guitars.

This great guitar (no. 442) with a scale length of 650 mm and a nut with of 52 mm, is a great example of Maurice Ottiger skills as craftsman. Special features on this guitar are:
An attractive inlay of flamed maple on the back, which is repeated in the headstock.
The bridge construction with three freely adjustable saddle pieces allows to adjust the guitar perfectly. The string ends are recessed in the bridge, which leads to a favourable relief of the top.

The playability is excellent. The sound of the guitar is powerful, loud and the guitar responds very nicely to the player’s touch. It has a nice bouncy response and gives a feeling of lightness.
The tone of this fantastic guitar has a great richness of a variety of timbres and great harmonic quality. The notes blend together beautifully while still maintaining their clarity and separation. The guitar is in good condition. It is in good condition and you can see the usual wear from play and use.
