Description
Pena Vargas 2017 “Malaguena” – furious sounding flamenco guitar. It was the stage guitar of flamenco guitarist Mercedes Luján.
This flamenco guitar was made in 2016 by guitar maker Peña Vargas. This young guitar maker from Jerez de la Frontera has quickly made a name for himself in the Spanish guitar making scene, establishing himself as one of the most important new instrument makers. His guitars offer exceptional quality at a very competitive price, and it’s no wonder that artists like Diego del Morao, José Gálvez, Niño Jero, Diego Carrasco, Antonio Rey, Román Miroshnichenko, Manuel Valencia, Pepe del Morao…. rely on the guitars of this guitar maker for many of their performances.
This flamenco guitar is made of carefully selected woods. The alpine spruce top has a straight and even grain over the entire surface, while the Indian rosewood of the sides and back shows spectacular patterns. The nut width is 52 mm and the scale length is 655 mm.
The guitar has a strong and authoritative tone with an exceptional balance between singing highs and deep basses. It has a huge dynamic range and just perfect playability.
The tone is dense yet clear with a warm, mysterious and atmospheric quality. The sound consists of controlled and balanced layers of overtones resting on the crystal clear fundamental.
The guitar has an almost cathedral-like presence and definitely has plenty of power to assert itself in any concert hall.
This guitar can easily rival guitars that cost 2-3 times as much.
The guitar was the stage guitar of the gtarrist Mercedes Luján for many years. We have linked a video and 2 pictures of her with this guitar.
The guitar has been played a lot, and you can see the signs of play and use all over it. Sometimes we get the impression that the good sounding guitars all look like this.
It also has a repair on the side frame that was done very professionally.
It comes with a new guitar case.
