Description

Gibson J-35 1942 in red – original and rare pre war Gibson guitar. An amazing opportunity to get the real Gibson pre war Dreadnought sound.

During the time before the second world war Martin and Gibson both introduced new guitar models. Handmade with best materials and in a low quantity of production.
In 1936 the Gibson J-35 was introduced and built for 6 years until in 1942 it was replaced by the J-45 Model.

The Gibson J-35 featured an adirondack spruce top with mahogany for the back, sides and neck.

This 1942 Gibson J-35 model is in good playing order and sounds great – it’s very full, brilliant, lively and responsive.
The guitar is light like a feather and creates the most beautiful tones you can imagine. The woods vibrate amazingly and give this beautiful guitar a very charming wooden sound.

This guitar is in very good vintage condition. It had a neck reset and a refret. The guitar has been sent back to the Gibson factory in the 60’s, when the custom colours became popular. There it has been refinished in red (same colour as some J-45 guitars at that time). It has a few cracks repaired.

The action of this Gibson J-35 is low and it plays great with a straight neck.

It comes with the original guitar case.
