Description

Gibson J-55 1973 – a special guitar with unique Dreadnought sound!

Gibson launched the J-55 dreadnought in 1939. Back then the guitar had round shoulders, mahogany back and sides, Tortoise pickguard, ebony fingerboard, mustache bridge, sunburst finish and binding. This first version has been produced from 1939 to 1942.

In 1973, Gibson reintroduced this quality model, with quare shoulders and arched back.

We are happy to present this nice Gibson J-55 from 1973 in natural finish and with a Tortoise pickguard. It is a fairly rare instrument among Gibson’s vintage acoustics. The nut width is 43 mm.

It’s a great sounding guitar with a large projection coming from an efficient x-bracing. The arched back gives additional depth to the sound and makes it a nice guitar for strumming.

The guitar is in good condition for the age. It has a few repairs. The guitar has received a neck reset and the action is comfortably low.
