A. Klein ~1920 – very interesting guitar – extremely extravagant for the time!
We present a very beautiful handmade guitar by A. Klein made around 1920. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find any further information about this guitar maker – we would therefore be grateful for any hints and further information.
We think it was built in the area of Markneukirchen and A. Klein was possibly the father and teacher of Max Klein.
This guitar is very interesting, extravagant and of high quality! It has a fine materials … stunning birds eye maple back and sides and a spruce top of highest possible quality. It is built in traditional German/Vienna style, but has a bigger and deeper body than most other guitars of the time. The decorative work on this guitar is very finely crafted, looks fantastic and reveals a high level of craftsmanship. The scale length is 630 mm and the nut width is 48 mm.
We are pleased to offer this beautiful guitar for sale.
The tone of this particular instrument is deep, precious and the guitar immediately impresses with a very complex tone. The basses are deep and the trebles are smooth, lively and colorful with great expressiveness.
The tone is thick yet clear and has an essential warm, mysterious and moody quality. The sound comes with controlled and balanced layers of overtones stacked on the crystal-clear fundamental.
The guitar has been restored and several cracks have been repaired. The action is low and it plays great.
