Description
A Jose Ramirez I from 1898 – this fine guitar represents an impressive piece of guitar history.
A beautiful, smaller cypress guitar from the workshop of Jose Ramirez I. It was built at a time when Jose I had already been working as an independent guitar maker for 16 years (his workshop was founded in 1882).
Jose Ramirez I was the outstanding guitar maker at that time and is considered the forefather of guitar building in Madrid. It was indeed the case that the guitarists of that time were looking for solutions to the poor sound of the guitars built at that time. They turned to Jose Ramirez, who then created the so-called tablao guitar. The inner structure of this guitar was completely in line with the style and pattern of Torres guitars.
The sound of this Jose Ramirez is absolutely charming and elegant. It fascinates immediately with a warm and round tone.
The guitar was brought to Ramirez for restoration some years ago. There they were immediately enthusiastic about this great guitar. Some smaller spots were repaired and the guitar was adjusted in total to make it easy to play.
The condition of the guitar is very good for its age and it plays easily, with a low action and a straight neck.
The nut width is 50 mm and the scale length 623 mm.
The guitar comes with a newer matching case from Ramirez.
