Description
Manuel Perez Paez 2009 “Recuerdo Granada” – extremely attractive guitar – beautifully decorated and excellent in terms of sound!
Manuel Perez Paez was born in Motril (Granada) in 1925. He started making guitars in the 50’s and learned from various guitar makers in Granada.
In the 60’s and 70’s he devoted himself to other projects together with his brother and the Paez brothers became famous for a specially developed car brake, for which they also received various awards in the 70’s.
Later he devoted himself entirely to guitar making again and was also very innovative in this area, always looking to optimize the sound of his instruments. Especially in the last years of his life, Manuel Perez Paez built guitars which he spent a lot of time on decorating them richly.
His guitars were played by some famous musicians. Manuel Perez Paez died in 2013.
This guitar from 2007 is one of these incredibly elaborately decorated instruments. It is hard to imagine how many hours were spent putting the wooden parts together in mosaic style.
The top of this guitar is made of cedar. The sides are made of cypress with rosewood stripes. The artfully designed back is made of different colored rosewood and cypress parts. The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width is 52 mm. The action is comfortably low at 2.9 mm E and 2.5 mm e at the 12th fret. The neck profile is quite strong and is well suited to guitarists with larger fingers.
The guitar is heavier than many other Spanish guitars. The body is very large and the guitar immediately impresses with its massive sound and extremely large volume. The sound is powerful and fills any room.
However, the quality of the sound does not suffer from the high volume. The tones are detailed and shine in the most beautiful timbres.
This Manuel Perez Paez 2009 “Recuerdo Granada” is in used and good condition. It has been well set up by us and plays great with a low action.
Anyone looking for a visually and tonally exceptional guitar should seriously consider this great instrument.
